Getting started with your new HugoFox account

Setting up a HugoFox website only takes a few minutes. You simply choose a website type, pick a package and work through our guided builder.

This article walks you through each step so you can publish with confidence today.

1 Choose your website type

When you sign up, the first choice you make is the kind of site you need: Parish Council, Business, Club/Not-for-Profit or Charity. Selecting the right category ensures you see the features, templates and legal statements most relevant to you.

Tip: If you’re unsure which option best fits, pick the closest match. You can always switch later in your dashboard.

2 Pick a package

HugoFox offers three packages, Bronze, Silver and Gold.

  1. Bronze: Completely unlimited and with everything you need to get started.

  2. Silver: Adds telephone support, advanced statistics, an encrypted members area and an automated planning application tracker (for Parish Councils).

  3. Gold: Adds full support, full SEO and unlimited one-on-one training.
You can upgrade or downgrade at any time, so start with the level that meets today’s needs and scale as you grow.

3 Create your HugoFox account

On the sign-up form:

  1. Enter your email address and confirm it.

  2. Create a password (minimum eight characters) and confirm it.

  3. Click Register.
You’ll see an on-screen message letting you know an activation email is on its way.

4 Activate your account

Look for an email from team@hugofox.com, it can take up to an hour and may land in your spam folder. Open the message and click the “activate account” link

Once activated, you’re taken straight to your Profile page.

5 Complete your profile

Your profile is the public face of your site, so take a moment to fill it out:

  • Name & location: Helps visitors confirm they’re on the right site.

  • Domain name: Add your existing domain or leave blank for now, and we’ll assign a temporary one.

  • Contact details: Displayed on every page footer.

  • Branding: Upload a logo, a header image, and social media links.
When you’re happy, press Save in the top-right corner

6 Build your homepage

In the left-hand menu, choose Dashboard › Website and click Create a homepage. The website builder opens with your first blank page.

Add text, images, buttons, and other content blocks from the bottom panel. Drag-and-drop lets you reorder blocks until the layout feels right. Your homepage is your shop window, so introduce who you are, why you matter and how people can get in touch.

Note: changes do not auto-save, so make sure to press save or save and close regularly.

7 Add content and pages

From the Website home screen, you can:

  • Create new pages for services, councillor profiles, fundraising appeals and more.

  • Make sub-pages by dragging a page slightly to the right beneath another page; drag left to promote it back to a main page.

  • Publish Jobs, Events, Offers and News using our purpose-built modules. These items appear in dedicated listings and can be shared to the HugoFox network automatically.
Keep your navigation concise—five to seven main pages is plenty for most visitors.

8 Next steps and going live

Ready to see the full power of HugoFox? Our step-by-step system tour is in the System run-through article. When the site looks just right, follow the launch checklist for final pre-flight checks, such as domain pointing and accessibility testing.

Once complete, press Publish and celebrate because you’re live! Getting started is as simple as signing up, creating a profile, and visiting your homepage, then you’re free to shape a professional online presence that serves your community.

HugoFox's build-once philosophy makes it a revolutionary website builder for communities that don't have the budget or time for rebuilds.
