Managing news and job listings on HugoFox

Keeping your website’s stories and vacancies fresh is simple with HugoFox’s built-in tools. This guide shows you where to find everything, explains what each status means and shares proven tips for boosting engagement.

1 Access your News hub

You’ll find News in the left-hand menu of your HugoFox dashboard (Dashboard overview). The page lists every story you’ve created so you can spot what’s live, queued or still in draft at a glance. Action icons—Edit, Clone, Delete and Preview—sit to the right of each headline, so managing content takes one click.

2 Understand post statuses

Each article carries one of four statuses:

  • Active – visible on your website right now.

  • On hold – set to go live on a future date.

  • Expired – removed from the website and not visible.

  • Drafts – not visible on the website and in progress.

Use these labels to plan campaigns, re-publish seasonal pieces or tidy outdated news without losing the content.

3 Find your jobs dashboard

Log in and choose Jobs from the left-hand menu (Jobs dashboard). The dashboard displays every vacancy and its current state. Filter by Active, On hold, Disabled, Drafts or All to stay organised.

4 Check a listing’s status

Each job row shows a coloured badge—green for live ads, amber for on-hold, grey for drafts and red for disabled posts. Selecting a badge instantly switches that job to the chosen state, so you can pause or archive openings in a single click. Important: Disabled jobs vanish from public view immediately but stay in your dashboard for record-keeping until you permanently remove them.

5 Add a new job

Click Add job at the top right. The multi-step form autosaves as you go, so there’s no risk of losing work if you’re interrupted. If you leave before publishing, the advert sits safely in Drafts ready for next time.

6 Enter essential job details

Fill in the straightforward fields:

  1. Job title – keep it clear, e.g. Assistant Groundskeeper.

  2. Job type – choose Permanent, Temporary or Contract.

  3. Hours – full-time or part-time.

  4. Location – tick Work from home if relevant, otherwise start typing the postcode and pick from the dropdown.

  5. Salary – select per annum, per day or per hour, then enter the range. If pay is negotiable, use “Competitive”.

  6. Closing date – adverts automatically expire at midnight on this date.

  7. External application link – if applicants must apply elsewhere, paste the URL; it will display as “click this link”.

Tip: A clear salary band encourages 30 % more applications than “TBC”.

7 Attach documents and media

You can add up to ten supporting files:

  • Application form (PDF or Word) – ideal for councils with fixed templates.

  • Job description – outline duties and required skills.

  • Company overview – introduce your organisation’s mission and culture.

  • Images – drag and drop photos, graphics or your logo. Each image has an optional caption and alt text box such as “Office team photo” for accessibility.

8 Add employer contact info

Enter the recruiter’s name, phone and email so candidates can reach you with queries. The details appear on the public advert under “Contact”. If you prefer applicants not to call, leave the phone field blank.

9 Publish, edit or pause a job

When you’re ready, hit Save & publish. The advert goes live instantly and appears in HugoFox’s job search as well as on your site.

  • To amend a live ad, select Edit from the dashboard, make changes and click Update—edits show straight away.

  • Need to pause applications? Change the status to On hold—the listing disappears from public view but you keep all stats and applicants.

  • Once the role is filled, set the status to Disabled or let the closing date remove it automatically.

10 Monitor post performance

Silver and Gold customers unlock the Statistics tab. Here you’ll see how many views and users each News article receives each day. Use these insights to fine-tune headlines, imagery and publishing times for better engagement (Using site statistics).

Conclusion

Whether you’re publishing stories or advertising jobs, HugoFox makes content management effortless—so you can focus on serving your community.
