Setting up a tournament on HugoFox

Running sporting events on your HugoFox site keeps visitors informed and encourages community participation. The built-in tournament tool lets you create fixtures, record results and display live tables—all in one place.

1. Choose the tournament type

Start by selecting the competition format that suits your event:

  • Knockout
  • League
  • Round Robin
  • Double Elimination

2. Select the participant type

Next, decide how entries are grouped:

  • Individuals
  • Pairs
  • Teams

3. Enter participant numbers and names

When you enter the number of participants on the form, name fields appear automatically. You can also choose whether to include ‘bye’ players to balance the draw.

4. Decide the draw order

Choose how the tournament draw is created:

  • Entered order – follows the list as typed
  • Random – shuffles all entries
  • Seeded System – uses a traditional seeding layout

5. Add phases and fixtures

For each stage of the competition you can:

  1. Add or remove a phase
  2. Give the phase a name
  3. Set the number of fixtures between participants
  4. Create fixtures and then
    • Add players, remove teams or reorder them with simple drag-and-drop

6. Add locations and schedule times

Include practical details by adding the location of each fixture plus the date and time it will be played.

7. Configure the results table and rankings

Tick the columns you want to display: club, games played, points, won, drawn, lost, goal difference and any custom columns you need. You can also set whether the ranking is based on highest or lowest score/time wins.

8. Generate and view rankings

Click Generate Rankings to create an instant table showing rank, name, games played and points.

9. Apply a theme

You can change the overall look of the tournament with three theme options to choose from.
